Annual Parish Meeting – May
Annual Parish Meeting
The Annual Parish Meeting is a yearly event that provides an important opportunity for the community to come together. Legally, it is a separate body from the Parish Council, but in practice, the Council takes responsibility for organising it. The meeting is chaired by the Chair of Comberton Parish Council, or by the Vice-Chair if the Chair is unavailable.
While the meeting can include votes on local matters, these decisions are not binding on the Parish Council. However, any motions passed are taken into consideration at the next Council meeting.
What makes the Annual Parish Meeting unique is that all electors of the parish are welcome and encouraged to attend, speak, and vote—something not permitted during standard Council meetings unless otherwise invited. Held in April or May, the Annual Parish Meeting offers Comberton residents a chance to hear reports from the Parish Council and other village groups about their activities over the past year. The minutes from this meeting typically include a summary of proceedings along with individual reports from each village organisation.
This meeting gives Comberton residents a chance to:
- Hear updates from the Parish Council and local organisations
- Review what’s been achieved over the past year
- Raise questions or concerns
- Share ideas and engage in discussions about village life
We will be holding our Annual Parish Meeting on Wednesday 14th May, at the Village Hall, starting at 7:00pm.
